Pitchers and Catchers Report Day — News Round-Up!

February 14, 2011

We know you come here for the hard hitting news, but you’re going to get the miscellaneous flailing of some seriously baseball deprived women instead.  So here we go!

  • It’s gorgeous in Scottsdale!  Thankfully it is in NC today, too, so Britt doesn’t have to be too jealous. Maiya definitely is though, because Seattle is cold, wet, windy, and rainy. Yuck.
  • Tim Lincecum continues to be precious and apparently signed autographs for the whole crowd hanging out to greet the guys in Scottsdale.
  • The ball that struck Nelson Cruz for the final World Series out is in Brian Wilson’s Halloween candy jar. Of course it is. Where else would it be?
  • Speaking of Timmy, Hank Schulman reports that the Fu is gone and that his “dog licked it off”.  This fact alone gives us great hope for this season.  Thank you, Timmy.  We’ll never say you never did anything for us.  Or maybe we should be thanking Cy? Or Kayo?
  • Also courtesy of Hank Schulman, our very own baby bull playing some catch yesterday.  Just don’t over do it and Verducci yourself, ‘kay Bum?
  • Somehow, in the space of today, the Elmer Dessens deal fell through and was almost instantaneously (or so it seems) replaced by a minor league deal with former Pads starter Brian Lawrence. We wonder if The Intern’s patented dart throwing technique was involved in that deal too.
  • Buster Posey is on Facebook. Pardon Britt while she stares dreamily at it for awhile.
  • This banner is hanging in the clubhouse.  As they say, pics or it didn’t happen so… I guess that really happened and wasn’t just the result of a fever dream after some bad shrimp lo mein, huh?
  • @RomosBeard got a shoutout on ESPN.com We feel like we really are living in some alternate reality at moments like this.  If you want to get a bit teary eyed, feel free to read the rest of that article.  Or perhaps that’s just Britt’s amazing ability to cry at anything Giants related.
  • Mychael Urban and his Flip camera bring us our first video glimpses of Timmy in action.  God bless technology.
  • Baggs has some more bits and pieces up here. Click. Baggs is always worth reading.

That’s all for now, but we’ll be following the news all Spring Training.  Also Twitter, because that’s where the real news comes from now.  Just ask Hosni Mubarak.
