Series Wrap-Up: Bats Finally Start to Get Hot

June 3, 2011

We’re going to keep this brief so we can focus on tonight’s game, but a few points of interest from this series against the Cardinals.

  • Andres Torres hit his first grand slam.  Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy, as they say.
  • Not to be outdone, Aubrey Huff had his career first three homerun game, and in fact the first such by a Giant since J.T. Snow.  What, you thought we wouldn’t mention it?
  • Tim Lincecum had a rare iffy start, but the offense and bullpen managed to pick him up, which was, in a weird way, good to see.  We know Timmy can pitch well, we don’t always know that the rest of the team can compensate if he doesn’t.
  • Brandon Crawford continues to hold his own, something we’re very pleased to see.  Keep it up, Professor Stamos.
  • Brandon Belt is still recovering from taking a pitch to the wrist, soreness and stiffness from which have kept him from batting for several days.  He had some time in the cage earlier today but has yet to take BP.
